Abstract

The world has witnessed a multi-dimensional crisis since the emergence of the new Corona virus in December 2019 in China, whose variants are still continuing to appear. The challenges and psychological pressures that the individual faces, in connection with the repercussions of this virus, require him to have high emotional and social capabilities, to deal with its negative effects, and to communicate efficiently with others, in light of the restrictions and precautionary measures that completely limit their freedom and prevent their movement. An individual who is not qualified to face the various crises and challenges that he faces in his daily life is at risk of developing many psychological disorders. Accordingly, there is an urgent need to open up to psychology, especially in the aspect related to intervention and treatment, with the aim of building psychological, social and organizational capabilities and skills that help the individual confront and respond to various crises, in addition to confronting the negative repercussions that threaten the individual’s existence and disturb his psychological being. In this context, emotional intelligence and social support are psychological mechanisms that play a preventive role and a psychological buffer against a stressful event or crisis, as was the case in the emerging Corona virus crisis. Through them, the individual can face psychological pressures, cope and adapt to them effectively, ensuring the balance of his psychological health and the continuity of his normal life.
