The drop of the feminine marker in Arabic prose: Trends of linguistic thought “Aspects and Reasons”

Abstract

This study aimed at uncovering the various aspects of the drop of the feminine marker in the structure of the Arabic word whether it is used as an individual, isolated word as listed in Arabic dictionaries, or as a word linked to other adjacent words within a context. It also aimed to explore the various word structures from which the “ha” has been dropped in an attempt to identify Arab linguists’ attitudes towards such a drop. The researcher found that Arabic is likely to drop the feminine marker “ha” which could be attached to another word for some reasons.
