Abstract

The research aimed to investigate the impact of job satisfaction; bonus/rewards, promotion, work environment and supervisor support on employees’ retention in the five stars hotels in Kingdom of Bahrain. The research adopted the descriptive analytical approach to answer the research questions and to test its hypotheses. The research population constituted from 5586 employees which is the total number of employees working in these hotels in Kingdom of Bahrain. The research utilized a questionnaire developed by the researcher and distributed to 361 employees, while 320 questionnaires were collected constituting a response rate of 88.64%.The research results showed a significant relationship between job satisfaction and employees’ retention. Additionally, the findings revealed that work environment has the highest impact on employees’ retention, followed by bonus/rewards, then supervisor support and lastly promotion.

 

The research concluded that these hotels lack compensating their employees based on the results of their performance appraisal, improper promotional opportunities, inappropriate relationship between supervisors and their subordinates. Additionally, lack of provision of financial support to their employees that my drove them to seek potential job opportunities in other hotels.

 

The research recommended the necessity to review bonus/rewards policy in alignment with employees’ performance appraisal, and to provide financial support to employees to increase the probability of retaining them. Additionally, the research proposed carrying out annual career development plans to support employees’ promotional opportunities. Finally, the research suggested training managers and supervisors to create desirable relationship with their subordinates and to sustain this relationship.
