Using Augmented Reality Technology during Teaching of the Economic Activities Unit for Fifth-Grade Primary Students in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Abstract

The research aimed at employing augmented reality technology during teaching of Economic Activities Unit in social studies course for fifth-grade primary students in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the year 1442 AH-2021 AD. A descriptive approach was adopted, and to achieve the research’s goals, a guide was prepared explaining how to use the augmented reality technology during the implementation of the unit’s lessons, which include: a lesson on agriculture and herding, and a lesson on industry, trade and services. The guide was presented to a group of specialists in the field of curricula and teaching methods to obtain their approval of the validity of the objectives contained in the guide, and the suitability of educational activities and educational tools for the technology of augmented reality, and they approved the guide by 96%.The two researchers recommended the necessity of making use of the proposed guide and to instruct teachers to use augmented reality technology when teaching social studies in general and geography in particular.
