Abstract

This research aims to teach the first Saudi state unit in the social studies course using thinking maps for Elementary sixth grade female students in Jeddah, a descriptive method was used in this research, Moreover, the steps for teaching each lesson were determined according to the thinking maps and were included in a suggested educational guidebook, which was presented to a group of specialists in the field of curricula and instruction, to get their approval for the validity of the educational objectives, and for the level of students. They approved the guide by 96%. The two researchers recommended the necessity of making use of the suggested educational guidebook and to instruct teachers to use thinking maps of all kinds when teaching social studies in general and history in particular.
